Ulua Romance - Giclee Print

This is a Signed and Numbered Limited Edition canvas giclee print of Burtenshaw's painting entitled "Ulua Romance." World-renowned Ulua Beach is located in world-famous Wailea, Maui. These turquoise waters provide unequaled clarity to snorkel at Molokini Crater, which is visible on the far left of the painting at the ocean's horizon. Whales are often spotted here with newly birthed calves during winter months, making it a favorite beach for both locals and tourists visiting Maui.

Multiple layers of cloud banks are a common occurrence in these waters. Clouds drift from the island of Lana'i across the narrow channel between the two islands, making it a unique location for incredible sunsets. This coastal area has been voted to have the best sunsets in the entire world!

Our canvas giclee prints can be purchased as "Print Only" (un-stretched), "Standard Wrapped" on 3/4" depth stretcher bars, or "Gallary Wrapped" on 1-1/2" deep depth stretcher bars. Stretched prints can also be purchased with the picture frames shown. If needed, please see the images and information at the bottom of this page for additional descriptions of these terms.

Gallery wrapped refers to the technique of stretching a canvas print so that the image wraps around the outer side edges of the stretcher bar frame. As such, the image appears on the sides of the stretcher bar frame as well as the front. The canvas is then secured to the back of the wooden frame with staples.

Standard wrapped canvas prints are designed to be hung with frames. As such, the image remains on the front surface of the stretcher bar frame, and the image does not appear on the sides of the stretcher bar frame.

Gallery wrapped canvas prints are designed to be hung with or without frames. Traditional deep depth frames and deep depth "floater frames" for these prints are available, and many can be purchased under the "Standard Wrapped or Gallery Wrapped / Frames" option box at the upper right side of this page.

Floater frames provide a deep space, channel, or "moat" around the artwork--between the side edges of the stretched canvas print and the floater frame--and can make it seem like the artwork is floating. This compliments the artwork by adding a stylish three-dimensional look and feel. View images and in-depth information on floater frames by clicking on our "ABOUT FRAMES" main menu button.

PLEASE REFER TO THE THREE STEP GUIDE BELOW IF ANY
QUESTIONS ARISE DURING OUR ORDERING PROCESS.

Before we address the three steps, a bit of information may be helpful for many of our customers. For starters, this page is the painting's "product page." Every painting has its own product page. As stated above, the price and image shown at the top of each product page will change to reflect a correct price and image only after choosing both a size and a framing option. This price will also change each time a new size or framing option is selected.

Secondly, it should be understood what a "stretcher bar frame" is. As its name implies, a stretcher bar frame is a frame made of four wooden "stretcher bars." Canvas prints are then "stretched" onto these frames. Stretcher bars come in many lengths (which determines the over-all size of the frame), but there are only a few standard depths for their outer side edges (not the width of their front faces); the most common being 3/4" standard depth and 1-1/2" deep depth stretcher bars.

stapled onto these wooden frames)

Next, the difference between the two depths of artwork that we offer must be understood. As stated, depth refers to how deep the artwork is; in other words, how far the artwork will extend outward from the wall when hung. We offer both 3/4" standard depth and 1-1/2" deep depth artwork.

All our originals are painted on either:

(a) - Canvas - stretched on a 3/4" standard depth stretcher bar frame

(b) - Cradled wood panels - backed by 3/4" standard depth wooden frames

(c) - Cradled wood panels - backed by 1-1/2" deep depth wooden frames

Note: In order to determine which of the above three types of surface an   original painting was painted on, click on "Read more" (as seen above). Only pages describing original paintings will have this information.

All our stretched canvas giclee prints are stretched on either:

(a) - 3/4" standard depth stretcher bar frames that are commonly referred to as "Standard Wrapped" prints.

    OR:

(b) - 1-1/2" deep depth stretcher bar frames that are commonly referred to as  "Gallery Wrapped" prints. Gallery wrapped refers to the technique of stretching a canvas print so that the image wraps around the outer side edges of the stretcher bar frame. As such, the image appears on the sides of the stretcher bar frame as well as the front.

We recommend that customers desiring to keep ordering procedures simple (on our prints) might consider one of these two options:

(1) - Order a print of a desired painting "Standard Wrapped" on  a 3/4" deep depth stretcher bar frame, and order it with one of the frames shown under that painting's framing options (unless finding your own frame). Standard wrapped prints are meant to be framed; as such, the image remains on the canvas front and does not wrap around the side edges.

    OR:

(2) - Order a print of a desired painting "Gallery Wrapped" on a 1-1/2" deep depth stretcher bar frame, and hang it without a frame. Going one step further might include framing the gallery wrapped print in a "floater frame" (see our "ABOUT FRAMES" page for descriptions and images of floater frames).

If price is a deciding factor, take note of the price change after selecting each size and framing option. Also consider that the larger the print is, the more shipping costs will be.

THREE STEP GUIDE:

HOW TO NAVIGATE "SIZE" AND FRAMING OPTION SELECTION BOXES ABOVE

STEP #1:

Click on "Size" and select the desired size. For originals, only one size is available. For prints, sizes are available anywhere from a 12" x 16" to a 36" x 48" size print.

If viewing purchase options for a print, each size is shown followed by an edition number, such as / Edition: 250 maximum - Signed & Numbered. This means there will be a maximum number of 250 Signed & Numbered prints sold of this size.

STEP #2:

FOR ORIGINALS: Click on "Framing Options."

Then choose either (A) or (B):

(A) - The original without a picture frame.

         OR:

(B) - The original with one of the picture frames shown.

(click on each option to view an image of that option)

FOR PRINTS: Click on "Standard Wrapped or Gallery Wrapped / Frames."

        Then choose either (A), (B), or (C):

(A) - Order the print un-stretched. Possibly save money on shipping and have a local frame shop stretch your print (check their pricing). Un-stretched canvas prints will be rolled up, bubble wrapped, and shipped in a 6" diameter tube. Once received, the unrolled canvas print will be in perfect condition.

If choosing the un-stretched print option, choose one of these two options: Choose either the "Print Only - (to be Standard Wrapped)" option or choose the "Print Only - (to be Gallery Wrapped" option. Why is this choice needed at this time?

-- Canvas prints "(to be Standard Wrapped)" by a framer in your area are meant to be framed and will come with an extra 2" white canvas border around their outer edges. This extra 2" border will  wrap  around the side edges of the 3/4" standard depth stretcher bar frame

-- Canvas prints "(to be Gallery Wrapped)" by a framer in your area come with  an extra 3" outer border instead of an extra 2" border, since gallery wrapping the painting's image around a 1-1/2" deep depth stretcher bar frame will require another inch of canvas.

         OR:

(B) - Order the print already stretched onto a stretcher bar frame without a picture frame. Choose either the "Stretched Print - Standard Wrapped" option or the "Stretched Print - Gallery Wrapped" option (see note below Step #3 if unsure of the difference between Standard Wrapped and Gallery Wrapped).

          OR:

(C) - Order the print already stretched onto a stretcher bar frame with one of the picture frames shown. Choose either a Standard Wrapped print with one of the picture frames shown or a Gallery Wrapped print with a picture frame shown (see note below Step #3 if unsure of the difference between Standard Wrapped and Gallery Wrapped).

Step #3:

Click on add to cart. An estimated shipping cost will appear before submitting the order. If final shipping costs exceed our estimate by more than 15%, we will contact the buyer and the order will not be processed until the customer has given final approval of shipping costs (all shipping costs are priced at our cost).

Note: Please keep in mind:

    - "Standard Wrapped" prints stretched on (or to be stretched on) 3/4" standard depth stretcher bar frames are meant to be framed. As such, their outer side edges will come with white as the color of their outer side edges.

    - "Gallery Wrapped" prints are stretched on (or to be stretched on) 1-1/2" deep depth stretcher bar frames and are meant to be hung without frames or with floater frames (see our "ABOUT FRAMES" page for descriptions of floater frames). These prints will be gallery wrapped, where the painting's image wraps around the outer side edges of the stretcher bar frame as well as the front.
