This is a 24" x 36" Original Oil Painting entitled "Makua Beach Sunset." Burtenshaw's painting exerts a serene feeling of tranquillity, calmness, and piece of mind, and initiates an overwhelming sense of awe. The full spectrum of color endowed by the painting satisfies the visual palate. The roaring coastal waves, accompanied by gusts of tropical winds, wash away all worries.

The painting is an imaginative colaberation of several of Burtenshaw's photos. The sunset was captured above the mountains forged by towering 4,961 ft. tall Kamakou volcano in Moloka'i, Diamond Head Crater was photographed off the shores of Oahu, and the beach setting and waves are from Burtenshaw's favorite beach in Kauai, Makua Beach, located at Ha'ena Point on the North Coast of Kaua'i.

Burtenshaw painted it on a 1-1/2" deep professional quality Ampersand Museum Series Gessobord *cradled hardwood panel. Unlike canvas, these cradled boards are less suseptible to moisture, never sag or stretch, and can be hung framed or unframed.

*Cradled wood panels are hardwood panels (1/8" thick), which are reinforced with hardwood strips (1-1/2" deep) adhered to the perimeter and centers on the back side of the panel.
